In this day and age, it is pretty much impossible to not have heard of cloud computing. It is a pretty invaluable technology in the rapidly growing modern world. As a refresher, cloud computing is the process of being able to access important documents and applications from anywhere and at any time. It offers the convenience of remote access to files that would not have been possible to do on a local hard drive. This obviously has a valuable place in business, but did you know that your marketing department could benefit from cloud computing as well? This article will highlight some of the ways in which the Cloud can help your business’s marketing department.
Utilising the Cloud for your Marketing
Lowers Cost
The selling point of anything is usually cost related. Well, cloud computing has the ability to be extremely cost efficient, which directly relates to marketing in that there will be more money to spend on marketing campaigns, and really getting your name out there. This is obviously one of the main aspects of a successful company, and can be a really valuable thing to switch out costs for.
Improves Accessibility
The Internet has enabled small businesses to become big businesses at the click of a button. Essentially, the world is your oyster and it is true that businesses nowadays have the power of the Internet at its side. This is very good for marketing departments, even if they happen to be relatively small. One of the main advantages is that cloud computing aids in the ability for marketing to reach audiences far and wide.
A lot of this stems from accessibility. Marketers now have access to their files from anywhere and at any time. So, it has the ability to improve communication between clients and marketing department. This makes their jobs a whole lot easier and more satisfying, while allowing the synergy of brands, clients, and companies to take place. Accessibility is a game changer.
Improves Analytics
Data is the substance of all companies, and its’ what makes them run to the best of their knowledge and ability. This is why the cloud’s ability to improve analytics is hailed by businesses as being the biggest draw to using it in the first place. Focus is moving from the speed and scale of computing power to analyzing, understanding and using data- which means companies can rely on the cloud for storage whilst they focus on ways to improve analytics. One example of this is the growing interest in cognitive technology, allowing computers a more human comprehension and symbolizing the fascinating advancements in artificial intelligence.
Marketing departments love the cloud for its capacity to help to make leads easier to track, new channels to be tested, and whether or not certain marketing strategies work. Customer relations also factor into this, as it is cheap and easy for customer relationship management applications to be set up and run effectively.
Improves Creativity
The market is the most competitive it has ever been right now. This is an unfortunate consequence to the accessibility and use of new technology in the business place. Thankfully this also means that creativity is at an all time high as a result. We must rise to the occasion. This makes it more viable and in fact, absolutely necessary to analyze the customer’s real needs and use that to create more efficient products. Marketers love this because they are able to spend more time being creative with their campaigns in a response. Connecting with customers is the name of the game.
Improved Scalability
No longer do we need to pay for things that we do not need and will just be wasted eventually. With cloud computing, marketers do not have to worry about how much storage they will need for their data. Instead they just rent cloud space at a pay as you go type plan. This is way more efficient than having to worry about clunky devices and the possibility of losing any information that was critical.
The worlds of marketing and cloud computing on the surface might not necessarily go together, but in reality they mesh quite nicely. In fact, going forward, the two entities will become increasingly interconnected. This is something that will enable marketing to become highly efficient and effective, revolutionizing the way businesses work.

Hey Karan,
Very informative article. You mentioned that cloud computing can be “very cost efficient”, and I agree that in many cases that is true. Most of my websites on GCP cost around $10/month to run, but for very basic, static websites, $10/month is a lot to pay for hosting.
What are your thoughts on this? Also, you made some great points in your section on scalability. I think this is probably the main selling point of any cloud platform.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Joe
